Neponset River Greenway Spring Ride
10:00 am, Saturday, March 21, 2009

Celebrate the arrival of spring with a bike ride along the historic Neponset River. The ride begins at 10am at Paul's Bridge on the Milton/Hyde Park line, goes across Milton, and returns up the Neponset River Greenway, concluding at 12:30pm at the Wakefield Estate on Brush Hill Road in Milton with a simple lunch of soup and bread. If you eat fast, you can get back to Paul's Bridge to join a NepRWA-led walk through Fowl Meadow along the river. The ride will highlight some of the river's historical sites, covering a moderate terrain of approximately 15 miles.

This ride is cosponsored by MassBike's MetroBoston chapter, the Boston Natural Areas Network, the Neponset River Watershed Association, the Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee, and the Wakefield Estate. The ride is free; pre-registration is requested. For ride details and more information, call the Wakefield Estate at 617-333-0924.

Bailout points

You can turn around at Mattapan Square or Dorchester Lower Mills. The closest T station to most of the ride is Ashmont on the Red Line, but it is a hike.
