Neponset River Greenway Spring Ride
10:00 am, Saturday, March 22, 2008

This ride follows Truman Parkway north along the Neponset River, then cuts through Milton along the river to Dorchester Lower Mills, where we'll cross the river and bike through Olmsted-designed Dorchester Park. We'll follow John Adams' commuting route, turning off it to go over Ashmont Hill to Boston Harbor. After stops at Victory Road Park and Phillips' Candies, we'll follow the Neponset Trail back to Milton and ride a bit of the Boston side of the river to Hyde Park, where we will cross back to Truman Parkway and return to the start. Next month, we'll ride beyond the Greenway.

This ride is cosponsored by the MassBike MetroBoston chapter and the Boston Natural Areas Network and its community-based Neponset River Greenway Council, which have been working with the DCR to connect parklands along the river since 1990.

Bailout points

You can turn around at Mattapan Square or Dorchester Lower Mills. The closest T station to most of the ride is Ashmont on the Red Line, but it is a hike.
