Neponset River Esplanade Announced

Governor's Announcement
Governor Deval Patrick staged an Earth Day press conference with the EOEA and DCR
at the Hatch Shell, announcing 5 million dollars for the development of what is
now called the "Neponset River Esplanade", the park we have been working on from
Mattapan Square to Paul's Bridge in Milton and Hyde Park. The project includes
renovation of the "Stress House," the DCR building just south of Mattapan Square
on Brush Hill Rd., as a park headquarters, and reconstruction of the Martini Shell,
location of many Neponset River Festival events over the past 10 years. Half a
million of the money exists now, and the rest is to come from the state's next
Environmental Bond Bill.
