Meet at 9:30 am for a ride parallelling the Mass. Central Railroad from Somerville to Framingham using the Red Line Linear Park, the Fitchburg Cutoff Trail, and streets. Wide tires will help; helmets are required.

Sunday, May 10: Mothers Day

Meet at 11:00 am at the corner of South St. and Carolina for bike repairs and decoration. will start riding at 11:00 to celebrate the covering up of the trolley tracks on South and Center. Helmets are required. Afterward a group of us might go investigate the Prince St. bike route which a committee of the Boston Bicyclist Advisory Board is studying.

Free Short Bicycle Films

In celebration of Bike Week, the Harvard Film Archive is pleased to present a free screening of short films. The program will include documentaries on the Tour de France in the early 1960s and the amateur St. Laurent Bicycle Race in 1966, educational films about bicycle safety, and other bicycle-themed shorts. The screening will be approximately 90 minutes, and the films will be screened on 16mm. For further information contact Liz Coffey.

On the second Wednesday of every month DotBike leads a fun and relaxed ride home, meeting at the Brewer’s fountain in the Boston Common near Tremont street at 5:30pm. After a short chat we will leave at 5:40pm and head south towards Dot Ave. and Dorchester.

Bike Commuter Appreciation

As part of National Bike to Work Day, the Cambridge Bicycle Committee and the City of Cambridge will be thanking commuters who bike to work by presenting them with a small giveaway. Members of the Bicycle Committee will be stationed at locations throughout the city to catch cyclists on their way to work and give them their gift. Watch for them at Central Square, Harvard Square, and along the Charles River.

Saturday, May 16:

Literary Cambridge Bicycle Tour

Join the Cambridge Bicycle Committee for a leisurely ride through the streets of Cambridge past homes and sites associated with well-known authors, poets, publishers and printers. The ride is part of the city's annual GoGreen Month activities. See . We start the ride at the plaza beteen the high school main entrance and the Main Library for a tour a little over 10 miles long. We will be making several stops along the way for brief theme-related talks. The ride will end up at Riverside Press Park on Memorial Drive for free refreshments provided by Whole Foods Markets. After that, we'll lead those interested back to the starting point. The ride will be escorted by the Cambridge Police Department's Bike Patrol. Please arrive at the start by 10:15am for a 10:30am departure.

A group is leaving Adams Park in Roslindale at 9:00 am to join this ride. There is a rain date of May 17 for the Cambridge ride, but we have on Hills Ride that day, so we won't bike to Cambridge if their ride is postponed. Ride the Hills of Southwest Boston

Join MassBike and RozzieBikes for this exploration of the hills of the southwest part of the City of Boston. We will climb over 1500 feet in a bit more than 15 miles. Helmets, good brakes, and good hearts are required. Some of these hills are really steep! We will try to finish in time to bike up to Newton.

Join us for a fun-filled evening at Flat Top Johnny's in Cambridge, as we recognize the employers who have won the MassCommuter Challenge, and celebrate the success of the first Bay State Bike Week. Free food and pool, and a cash bar will be available. In addition, all attendees will be entered into a raffle to win fabulous prize bags from local bike shops.
Flat Top Johnny's is at One Kendall Square, Cambridge, near the Kendall Cinema.

Cambridge Bicycle Shop invites you to attend their first annual Cambridge Bicycle Open House and Block Party!! Think you got one sweet commuter ride? If so, stop on by and sign up for the "Best Commuter Bike Contest". Have questions about how to start bike commuting? No problem! Friendly and knowledgeable staff will be on hand to answer your questions on how to best outfit your bike to get you on the road in no time. And, if you are just curious to know what sort of new commuter models are available, pop in and take a test ride around the block. Cambridge Bicycle has you covered on the entertainment and raffle prizes; drinks and food are generously being provided by Central Square area restaurants and cafes. All you have to show up with is your love of all things commuter-bike-related and be ready to have a good time! This event is free and open to the public.
