"Redbones is always working to support and promote the community," says Alderman John Connolly. "The bicycle valet parking is good for Davis Square businesses and reaches out to serve the needs of the local cyclists, an under-represented population which helps the environment and parking congestion." Introduced locally in 1996, Redbones Bicycle Valet was also a first-in-the-nation service, according to the National Restaurant Association's information services department.

This year's bicycle block party is scheduled for the last day of Bike to Work Week, a national initiative to encourage commuting by bike. "We switched the event from a week night to a Sunday and expanded the hours to accommodate all riders - recreational, competitive, whatever the reason - in addition to the commuters." says Jeff Broadman, GM at Redbones. "This is a bike friendly party, from bikes with training wheels to racing bikes with riders in training, all are treated with equal care by our volunteer valets from Kryptonite."
