6th Annual Bicycle Party and Benefit Hosted by Redbones

Somerville, MA - Redbones gears up for the New England cycling season with its annual Bicycle Block Party on Sunday, May 20 from 3:00 - 9:00 PM. The event takes place, rain or shine, in front of the restaurant at 55 Chester Street. Tickets are $10.00 per person, $6.00 for children under 12, and include free bicycle valet parking, a Redbones sandwich, beverage and raffle ticket. All proceeds will go to two bicycle advocacy groups, the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) and the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition ( MassBike).

Whatever the season, Redbones offers an incentive to cyclists coming to Davis Square, regardless of their destination: free bicycle valet parking. "Redbones is always working to support and promote the community," says Alderman John Connolly. "The bicycle valet parking is good for Davis Square businesses and reaches out to serve the needs of the local cyclists, an under-represented population which helps the environment and parking congestion." Introduced locally in 1996, Redbones Bicycle Valet was also a first-in-the-nation service, according to the National Restaurant Association's information services department.

This year's bicycle block party is scheduled for the last day of Bike to Work Week, a national initiative to encourage commuting by bike. "We switched the event from a week night to a Sunday and expanded the hours to accommodate all riders - recreational, competitive, whatever the reason - in addition to the commuters." says Jeff Broadman, GM at Redbones. "This is a bike friendly party, from bikes with training wheels to racing bikes with riders in training, all are treated with equal care by our volunteer valets from Kryptonite." In addition to Kryptonite Corp, sponsor's for the Bike Party include Ace Wheelworks, Independent Fabrications, Seven Cycles, NEMBA and MassBike, the Weekly Dig, Editorial Humor. Sponsor Harpoon Brewery is supplying the beer.

Redbones is located at 55 Chester Street, Davis Square, Somerville, MA. For directions and additional information on the restaurant, events and services call (617) 628-2200 or visit http://www.redbonesbbq.com.
