Neponset River Trail: On to Construction!

Over the summer, we realized that nothing was being done at the trail's only grade crossing of a major road, Granite Ave. in Dorchester. After figuring out that it was a state highway, a meeting was arranged with representatives of the Mass. Highway Department (MHD) on September 29. Peter Furth, a transportation engineering professor at Northeastern University and chair of the Milton Bicycle Committee formulated the issues in a position paper which is available online. The design is complete and almost ready to go out to bid. Construction may begin this winter, but the trail won't be paved until spring 2001.
