Williamsburg Rail Trail

A detour off the MassBike Tour, August 18, 2001
by Doug Mink

The Williamsburg Rail Trail starts from Route 9 in Williamsburg, a pleasant state highway with a good-sized paved shoulder (most of the time) and "Share the Road" signs. The trail starts about where the road turns as far as you can see in this picture. The trail is pleasantly shaded, with a ridable dirt surface.
Eleven-year-old Sarah with our tandem shows how wide the path is. An old dam sticks off the trail providing great views of the river along which the trail proceeds.
Here is the view from the dam. This is the other end of this section of the trail.
